Cortana, new appointment-->Exchange calendar

I use Windows Phone 8.1, a Nokia Lumia 650. I use Outlook 2013 on my desktop PC.

I cannot find a way to create a new Calendar appointment for a calendar other than my Microsoft/Outlook.com account.

I have 5 accounts set up and working on the phone: Outlook.com, 3 Exchange accounts, and a Gmail account. They all work fine with the Mail app, and the Calendar app color codes all the appointments based on which calendar they appear in and that is working perfectly.

However, when I create a new appointment on the phone, it always puts it in my Outlook.com calendar. Cortana-created appointments do the same thing.

Questions:

1. is there a way to specify the preferred calendar to use? One of my Exchange accounts is always my preference, but it would be nice to have the ability to put the events in any of the calendars.

2. Would it do any good to remove my Outlook.com Microsoft account from the phone? Maybe that way it would use the first Exchange account.

Hi,

This is the forum to discuss questions and feedback for Windows, better to post your question to the forum for Outlook. I have already helped you move your thread to Outlook Forum in order that you get help better.

I do use Outlook, but my question is about how to get the Windows 8 Calendar app to work differently.

Also, thank you for moving my thread, but now how do I get to the Outlook Forum?

Hi,

If you are using the Outlook.com account on Outlook 2013, once you setup the Outlook.com account, you can select the calendar in which you want to create the appointment, it's quite easy.

However, the problem seems to be on Windows Phone 8.1, to get the best resource to get support, I suggest you post the question in Windows Phone forum:

The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks for setting me on the right path. I have figured out how to add an appointment to my Exchange calendar from Windows Phone 8.1. Cortana is not smart enough to do it, but I can do it using the new appointment panels.

Hi Rglynnb,

I had exactly the same issue with Cortana.

I hope I did what you did... while you cant tell Cortana in the middle of creating an appointment which calendar to use (in my case I have 2 calendars - Hotmail & work).

My solution is:

- go through the voice commands and tell Cortana to create an Appt at X....

- on the last screen where she asks you to *confirm* if this is correct, tap the Calendar that is showing on the screen.

- you'll get a choice of Calendars to use & she remembers it for next time.

HTH,

Mick.

Your solution does work, thanks. I hope Microsoft adds this to Cortana's settings or better yet Cortana should put the appointment on the Office365/Exchange Calendar by default. She should ask which calendar to put it on if the appointment is outside of your defined work schedule.

I know this is kind of old, but if people are still looking for solutions:

The above solution did not work for me, as in the confirm screen the calendar did not show up. However, you can specify the calendar directly by saying: "create entry exchange" (or whatever you call your calendar).

hello

I'm using Windows 10 and Cortana. I'm logged in Windows through my Microsoft / Hotmail account. Cortana reads my Hotmail account appointments. I would like Cortana to also read my appointments in my Exchange calendar, and to be able to create appointments in this Exchange calendar. Is there a way I can do this?

Thanks,

David
